Northwest Arkansas strives to be a leader in bike and pedestrian friendliness and environmental initiatives. Several cities in the region are recognized for building better communities.
Bentonville and Fayetteville are designated as as Bicycle Friendly Communities by the League of American Bicyclists. The designation recognizes cities for providing safe accommodation for cycling and for encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation.
Both cities are recognized at the bronze level.
The region’s four largest cities are recognized with Tree City USA designations. The honor applies to cities with sound urban forest management that have demonstrated a commitment to care for and manage trees on public property.
The Tree Cities in Northwest Arkansas are Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale.
Fayetteville is home to two businesses recognized as Bicycle Friendly by the League of American Bicyclists. The designation applies to businesses that create a bike-friendly environment for employees, customers and the community.
The honorees are the City of Fayetteville and Bike City Recyclery.
