From the organizers, the Illinois River Watershed Partnership –
The Illinois River Watershed Partnership, City of Cave Springs, and numerous partners are working toward a “catalyst” project to link the Watershed Sanctuary and City of Cave Springs to the Razorback Regional Greenway. This trail project is listed by the NWA Regional Planning Commission as one of the most feasible and top-priority Greenway connections in NW Arkansas.
To bring awareness to the proposed trail route, the IRWP is asking the NWA cycling community to “ride the route” to the Illinois River Watershed Sanctuary from both Lake Springdale Trailhead and Rogers Mercy Trailhead on the Razorback Regional Greenway on Sunday, April 17.
From each starting point, the Illinois River Watershed Sanctuary is approximately a 9-mile ride (one-way). Starting at 2:00 PM, there will be food, music, nature hikes, canoeing and standup paddleboarding, and an outdoor classroom dedication at the Watershed Sanctuary. A map of the proposed catalyst trail route connecting the Greenway to Cave Springs will be uploaded to this page for reference.
